Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- 3+ cumulative years of experience managing an engineering team. (Experienced Manager)
- 4+ cumulative years of experience in a supplier-facing quality or reliability management role
Job summary
As a Manager within the Field Engineering team, you will manage a team that provides full life-cycle support to AWS Data Center equipment from design through maintenance and End of Life. Your team will be the ‘go to’ engineering resource for your region when product performance expertise is needed.
Key job responsibilities

- Manage up to 10 team members with varying technical experience
- Identify risks and complexity to unblock engineers and partner teams.
- Drive team timeliness, work quality, operational stability and success meeting customer requirements/business objectives.
- Identify where to simplify, optimize, and reduce overhead.
- Find a path forward in difficult situations. Handle escalations.
- Establish and/or streamline metrics, development, engineering, test, and operational excellence best practices. Share best practices with peers.
- Make trade-offs: short-term team needs and long-term business needs. Know how to scope a program. Discern which features are essential, or can be triaged or omitted.
- Communicate (verbal and written) with clarity, brevity, and accuracy, to the appropriate levels within the organization.
- Drive quality processes to improve operational excellence with customer interaction, development methodology, working with other teams.
- Advanced degree in engineering or other quantitative discipline
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, ISO-9000, quality control plans, failure and root cause analysis, and structured problem solving methodologies
- Excellent communication and writing skills, attention to detail, maintain high quality standards
- Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers (Including but not limited to: uninterruptable power supplies, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, air handlers, etc...)
- Ability to develop solutions and execute plans on complex projects
